Gear Essentials - What's in Your Bucket?
You've probably heard of a bucket list - places you'd like to visit, things you'd love to do...
Starboard and SUPWell have teamed up to compile a different sort of bucket list. One that makes it easy to shoot out the door and hit the water before the moment passes. If you have to faff-around to find all the things you need, your SUP trip can easily fall into the too-hard basket.
Make it SUPer-easy for yourself by keeping a grab-bag or bucket of paddling gear all in one place, so nothing essential gets left behind, and you'll be ready to go whenever you find the water calling you.
SUPWell always has boards and paddles for hire at PaddleFit classes, and you can book right up to the last minute. (Visit our class schedule to book)
So what's in your bucket?
Post a pic of your SUP Bucket on instagram and tag @supwell_nz to be in to win a free poncho from Starboard!
Here's what's in my bucket...
PFD - our personal flotation device or life vest which is a must have (& required by law in NZ unless you are SUP Surfing)
Leash - also a must-have so that you are connected to your board - which is essentially a giant buoyancy aid
Clothing - togs, high-vis top and boardshorts. A neoprene or thermal top for colder days, and a light rain jacket for wet or windy occasions.
Cap - keeps the sun and rain out your eyes
Electrical tape - why you might ask? Handy for temporarily covering dings in boards, fixing broken paddles and as a substitute for a plaster if you hurt yourself.
Screwdriver - for removing fins, changing fins
Sunscreen - reef safe, non-toxic and waterproof
Waterproof bags - ziplock bags keep your phone and car keys dry while you are paddling
Towel - also handy as a car seat protector
Water + a snack bar
See you on the water!
