Ready for the Waikato River?
Fun, adventure, improvement? The Cambridge to Hamilton Paddle Race has it all plus a great community of people who love to paddle. Train with us through August and join us on September 15th to take on the river.
The Waikato River throws up challenges you don’t find on your everyday flat water paddle. The flow of the river provides momentum without effort, however, the currents and swirling eddies will challenge your balance as you pick your path towards Hamilton from either Cambridge or The Narrows at Tamahere.
The 11km and 26km distances can be taken on competitively or as a cruise to soak up the experience. Remember 11km is closer to 6km and 26km closer to 12km when you factor in the flow of the river. So it’s not as daunting as it might appear at first glance.
We offer 30 day training plans for both distances so you can take part in your distance of choice and enjoy it. That’s $1 a day for 3-5 planned workouts a week to increase your fitness and endurance. Group training plans are available too if you want to grab some friends and train together. As part of our package, you’ll also receive a weekly email with helpful hints and tips to keep you motivated and your eyes on the prize. Register for your training plan here and email helen@supwell.co.nz to enquire about group plans.
There are always heaps of cool spot prizes and food available at the event and SUPCross is back this year for more after-event fun and games.
We’ll be organising group training on Saturday mornings starting in August, a practice run on the river and shared transport from Auckland to the event. So if you don't already, follow Starboard SUPSNZ and SUPWell on Facebook to keep up to date with events.
